Technology Certificate Program

 

The Technology Certificate Program is a series of classes designed to provide faculty members with a comprehensive set of skills, strategies, and the confidence for using technology in the classroom. Both full-time and part-time faculty are eligible for this program. The goal for the Technology Certificate Program is to offer a broad set of skills for faculty, as well as a system for the University to recognize faculty committed to improving their skills in this realm. Certificate Requirements: Successful completion of 4 workshops within one academic year.

 

Specific workshop topics will be posted soon, however below is a list of possible topics:

 

  • Moodle: Creating Engaging Activities - This session will focus on more interactive activities including creating wikis, WebQuests, surveys, glossaries, audio assignments and more.

 

  • PowerPoint Alternatives: Creating Engaging Presentations - PowerPoint is often the default presentation tool for many faculty and students. This session will explore alternatives technology tools to create more engaging presentations. 

 

  • Technology and Classroom Management: How Do They Go Together? This session will focus on the benefits and challenges of having laptops in the classroom. Teaching strategies, classroom management techniques and faculty experience will be shared.   

 

  • Mahara ePortfolio - This session will be an introduction to using the Mahara ePortfolio system.  

 

  • Digital Storytelling - This session will focus on aspects of digital storytelling including planning and presentation.
